I have performed for over 10 years in stage performances, and received Best Leading Male Actor with the role of Arnold at the Center on the Square awards show, the Archies.
I am able to play comic characters as well as dramatic roles. Leading roles like George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life (pictured right) are always fun, but playing a supportive role or a comic relief character is always enjoyable.
Taking the stage as a different person, with a distinct personality, and sometimes even a new look, is always an exciting experience. I have played roles from a slick salesman to a Russian spy to a mentally handicapped young man in a group home.
All of these roles hold their own challenges, but playing Arnold in The Boys Next Door was my most rewarding experience. Playing a character with a mental disability is risky. There is a fine line between going too far and being believable. This role really launched my passion for portraying lovable characters to a whole new level. Receiving feedback from parents who have children with the disability Arnold had was the most rewarding aspect of the show. Hearing that I represented and portrayed the disability in such a professional and personal way was validation that acting is where I belong.
Carson McGill has been a very active participant in our Community Theater in Searcy, AR for several years. He has acted, directed, pulled props, designed costumes, given musical instruction, designed and painted sets, struck sets, served as a greeter/usher and pretty much anything else it takes to keep a Community Theater going! He is a very hard worker and talented young man. We will miss his presence when following his dreams takes him away from our community, but he will be an asset wherever he goes!
